We cannot keep silent, the apostles say. Why? Because there is something we’ve been given to do that no one else can do, and there is something we’ve been given to say that no one else can say. So, what does the church have to offer the world that no one else can offer? And what does the church have to do that no one else can do?
[Preaching Note: This was a heavy sermon, preached the Sunday immediately following the shooting of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police, and the Dallas attacks. The sermon reflects on the sixth commandment (Thou shalt not kill) and draws from Rene Girard at the end.]
What a powerful message. Every church should hear this. So appropriate in times like these.
