We are called to walk through the wilderness of this world, kissed by the baptismal blessing. But there are times when we wish we could wash away the baptismal claim on our life. Times when we want life on our own terms. Times when we don’t want to belong to anyone but ourselves. Times when we don’t think that grace could possibly restore everything that has been lost. Sometimes it feels like all the claims of goodness seem like empty gestures. How can we raise our trembling hands to bless anything in a world so cursed?
